on a gymnasium wall….

An 800 mile odyssey, visiting ‘characterful’ exercise grounds and gymnasia for Mens Health magazine.

Saatchi Sunday

To celebrate the continued decline of the European economy we spent Sunday shopping in Chelsea and rounded the day of with our first visit to that nice Mr Saatchi’s gallery in Chelsea, where the work of Max FrisingerNoah’s Ark (CocoRosie) 2010 Steel, glass, wood, mixed media 246 x 272.5 x 105 cm,  held my boy’s attention for quite some time.

Geisha edit makes it to the website.

Such an indulgent pleasure, sifting through the film, contact sheets covering the wall of the studio again, looking at the project properly for the first time since the feature ran in The Sunday Times Magazine. Here are the fifteen that led me back through the story, http://www.moonriver.plus.com/geisha/index.html though I am sure the edit will grow or change.

Cafe Geisha

Another scan from my trip to Japan for the Sunday Times Magazine.

I remember being fairly exhausted and a little culture shocked toward the end of this day with Growing Bean. So, it was an unexpected and reviving pleasure to find ourselves stopping in at her regular post performance italian cafe on the outskirts of Kyoto. (apparently the owner had visited Italy and returned home with a plan…) Making myself comfortable on the authentic leatherette wall seat I drank the scene in. The low babble of the television and the gentle rustle of the newspaper blended with the reassuring kla-klunk of my faithful 6×7.
